Pal, Budha win titles

KATHMANDU: Mukesh Bahadur Pal and Ram Maya Budha won the Youth Open 5K Run here at the Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.

The Tribhuvan Army Club athlete Pal finished the distance in 15 minutes and 27.8 seconds to finish first in men's section. Fellow TAC athletes Shrikash Rai (16:08.6) and Sushil Kumar Shahi (16:09.7) came second and third respectively. Nepal Police Club's Budha won the women's section gold with the timing of 18 minutes and 53.27 seconds.

TAC athlete Purna Laxmi Neupane came second in 18:55.50 and Nepal APF Club's Asha Rawat was third on 19:39.32. Top three athletes in both categories received Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. A total of 386 athletes from 48 districts took part in the event organised by Athletics Family Nepal.

National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, legendary athlete Baikuntha Manandhar and Athletics Family Nepal President Rajan Khatri among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
