Thirteen families in Bajura district have been displaced due to flood and landslides.

The disaster occurred in Himali and Gaumul rural municipalities today, posing a threat to several houses in the local levels.

'A house belonging to Diplal Budha in Yuna of Himali Rural Municipality was completely destroyed by the landslide that struck this morning,' said Inspector Ranindra Singh Kathayat.

Likewise, 10 houses and a health post in the same ward are now at risk.

In Ward No 3 of Gaumul Rural Municipality, 12 families have been displaced due to the landslide triggered by continuous rainfall. Among the displaced families, five are from Behari and seven from Dhalkanda.

The entire settlement in Gaumul Rural Municipality is under the threat of landslides.

Currently, over 60 members from 12 families have sought shelter at Thumthala Primary School. Furthermore, the district still faces significant risk as more than 2,000 families remain susceptible to landslides.

The risks posed by the floods and landslides call for immediate support from the government for the safety and well-being of the affected communities in the district.
