NEPSE records 0.27% gain in trading session

KATHMANDU, JULY 31

Today's trading session at the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw the NEPSE Index closing at 2,106.18 points. This marked a notable increase of 5.84 points, representing a rise of 0.27% compared to the previous day's closing. It is worth mentioning that in the preceding trading session, the index had experienced a decline of 26.14 points.

The trading day kicked off with the NEPSE Index opening at 2,097.85 points. Throughout the session, the market displayed fluctuations, with the index touching an intraday low of 2,094.06 points. However, as the trading progressed, the market exhibited a positive trend and reached an intraday high of 2,126.57 points before finally settling at the closing value of 2,106.18 points.

During today's trading, a total of 262 scrips were exchanged, involving 40,303 transactions. The substantial traded volume amounted to 5,531,737 shares, resulting in a notable turnover of Rs. 1.85 Arba. The overall market capitalization stood at Rs. 30.95 Kharba, while the float market capitalization was recorded at Rs. 10.95 Kharba.

Among the various listed companies, SHIVAM CEMENTS LTD (SHIVM) witnessed the highest turnover, impressively reaching Rs. 8.08 crores. The company's shares closed at a market price of Rs. 604. Additionally, the shares of LUK were the most traded during the session.

In terms of individual stock performance, Sunrise Bluechip Fund (SBCF) emerged as the top gainer of the day, displaying a significant gain of 7.10%. Conversely, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) experienced the highest decline, with a decrease of 4.31% in its stock value.

Regarding the sector indices, the 'Trading' sector registered the highest gain of 1.97%, contributing to the overall positive sentiment in the market. On the other hand, the 'Hydropower' sector faced the highest decline, showing a decrease of 0.37%.
