KATHMANDU, AUGUST 01

The Nepal Stock Index (NEPSE) experienced a significant decline of 28.59 points, equivalent to 1.35 percent, compared to the previous day's closing. The stock exchange concluded today's session at 2077.58 levels.

The trading day commenced with the index opening at 2,106.18 and reaching its intraday peak at 2,124.32. However, throughout the trading session, the index displayed a downward trend, hitting an intraday low of 2,070.33, before settling at its closing value of 2077.58.

A total of 262 scrips were exchanged through 40,837 transactions, with a substantial volume of shares traded amounting to 6,015,067, representing a turnover of Rs. 1.92 Arba.

The market capitalization at the end of Tuesday's trading stood at Rs. 30.53 Kharba, a decrease of Rs. 42 Arba from Monday's closing market cap of Rs. 30.95 Kharba.

Notable performers in today's trading were Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Limited (UPPER), recording the highest turnover of Rs. 8.74 crores and closing at a market price of Rs. 410. Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL) showed the most gain with a 4.60 percent increase, closing at Rs. 398, while Kisan Lagubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (KLBSL) incurred the highest loss with a decline of 57 points.

Among the sub-indices, all closed in the red, except for mutual funds, which gained 0.35 percent. The Non-Life Insurance sub-index suffered the most significant loss, declining by 2.47 percent.
