NEPSE Index closes lower, New stocks lead gainers

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 06

In today's trading session, the NEPSE Index concluded at 2,051.47 points, suffering a significant loss of 38.37 points or 1.83% compared to the previous day's close. Last Thursday, the index saw a gain of 3.00 points.

The session commenced with the index opening at 2,095.43 and reaching an intraday high of 2,101.90 momentarily. However, it dipped to an intraday low of 2,041.69 before settling at 2,051.47 by the end of the day.

During today's trading, a total of 265 scrips were exchanged in 61,917 transactions, resulting in a substantial volume of shares traded, amounting to 8,007,361, with a turnover of Rs. 2.68 Arba. The market capitalization stood at Rs. 30.15 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 10.67 Kharba.

Sanima Bank Limited (SANIMA) led the turnover with an impressive amount of Rs. 12.69 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 297. KBL shares were the most traded.

Newly listed stocks, IME Life Insurance Company Limited (ILI) and Nepal Republic Media Limited (NRM), emerged as the top gainers, surging by 9.99% and 9.98%, respectively, almost hitting the positive circuit.

On the other hand, Progressive Finance Limited (PROFL) experienced the steepest decline of 9.59%.

In the sector indices, all sectors closed in red, with the 'Hotel and Tourism' sector recording the highest loss of 3.59%, while the 'Mutual Fund' sector experienced the least decline, with a 1.05% drop.
