KATHMANDU: The 7 Summits Foundation has offered financial support to Miss Nepal World Priyanka Rani Joshi and golfer Subash Tamang.

Marking its 12th anniversary amidst a function in Kathmandu, the foundation provided Miss Nepal Joshi with a cheque of 15 Lakh rupees for her beauty with a purpose project and golfer Subash Tamang has been honoured as the hero of 7 Summits Foundation. Subash has received Rs 1 Lakh for his future endeavours.

Miss Nepal, Priyanka Rani Joshi, stated that the amount will be invested in the development of the entrepreneurship of Madi villagers by providing training in hospitality and home-stay management.

'The goal is to empower and support local communities by equipping them with the necessary skills to develop and sustain their own businesses, thus enabling them to become self-sufficient,' Joshi said.

As the Nepal's top amateur golfer Subash has been named as the hero of 7 Summits Foundation, the foundation's support will inspire him to turn pro in the coming days, foundation's chief advisor Shyam Tamang said, adding that Subash won Double Gold Medals in the SAFF Games and Amateur Tour in Bangladesh.

Inspired by President AC Sherpa's philanthropic work, his daughter Amalia Sherpa also spent several days in Seattle streets selling education and recreational items to collect funds for 7SF. 'The 7SF has been offering the same amount, collected by Amalia, to Subash on this occasion,' he shared.

On the occasion, former ambassador of Nepal to the United States of America Arjun Kumar Karki thanked 7SF for its contribution to meeting the needs of the rural Nepali people.

President of the foundation AC Sherpa, who is also the Honorary Consul for Seattle in Washington State of the United States of America, said that the foundation was also planning to run different projects that could help the needy communities in Nepal and Africa,

Sherpa, who has climbed mountains across all seven continents of the world, had founded the Foundation with the aim of supporting the women and children in need.

According to Sherpa, the foundation has also supported the reconstruction of a building for Tapting secondary school, which was destroyed in the earthquake, in Solukhumbu district. The foundation also provided educational and livelihood support to Solsing, a remote village of Sindhupalchok district.

'7SF also supported Wongchu Memorial Hospital in Solukhumbu,' he said. Sherpa, who had also served as deputy regional coordinator (Americas) for the Non-Resident Nepalis' International Coordination Council, said that the foundation would be more active in the coming days to serve the needy. The foundation had supported 2019 beauty with a purpose project of Anushka Shrestha with a contribution of 33 Lakh. The project aims to empower and support students until they become the first Pilots, Nurses, and Doctors from the Solsing community.
