KATHMANDU, AUGUST 15
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed the bureaucracy to take concrete efforts to resolve problems with focus on issues of public importance.
The prime minister issued the directive in a meeting to explore solutions to problems related to the compensation for land acquired in Tinkune and to manage landless squatters in Kathmandu valley. 'The issues of public importance with far-reaching implications call for utmost attention. We should not shift these matters to a ministry or agency and shy away from the problem. Please be mindful of these issues,' the PM further said.
The meeting had explored long-term solutions to the problem of Tinkune land after its ownership came to Nepal government to make the Tinkune-Jadibuti underpass effective. It may be noted that compensation for the land and its subsequent problems have not been resolved yet. The PM's Secretariat said a discussion was held on various alternatives to conclude the efforts made so far for the resolution of problems of the landless in Kathmandu valley.
Also present on the occasion were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Narayankaji Shrestha, Minister of Urban Development Sita Gurung, and Minister of Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation Ranjeeta Shrestha, among others.
