KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 1
Today during mid-day, power went off for three hours in Kathmandu valley. People were shocked as they wondered what went wrong out of the blue. It was one of the longest power outages in Kathmandu valley after a long time.
However, when THT asked the information officer of Nepal Electricity Authority Bhagwan Dhakal, he said the electricity was shut down for 3 hours all over Nepal due to a fault in the system. 'There was no electricity in Nepal Electric Authority for three hours itself,' said Dhakal.
After giving this information, Dhakal said, 'I don't have concrete information regarding it. Please talk with the Spokesperson Suresh Bahadur Bhattarai.'
When THT called him to explore the matter, NEA Spokesperson Bhattarai said the transition of the whole country's electricity was disturbed for three hours due to system default.
'Yesterday, due to storms and rainfall in Madhes Province, trees fell on the national grid. As we didn't know what had happened at which place, it took almost three hours to find out the cause and inform the substation to remove the trees and pass the power,'NEA Spokesperson Bhattarai told THT.
The national grid was between Dhalkebar and Nawalpur substations, according to Bhattarai. At the end of the conversation he spoke rudely and said, 'You have got enough information. Write whatever you want to.'
