Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Naryan Kaji Shrestha has stressed the need to strengthen internal security affairs for prosperity, progress and good governance in the nation.

In his address to a programme organised today at the Nepal Police headquarters on the occasion of the 68th Police Day, DPM Shrestha said the realisation of the rule of law had been possible in the country due to the role of Nepal Police in maintaining internal security.

'The sacrifice of Nepal Police employees who are always stationed for the safety of citizens by putting aside individual interests and familial responsibilities is the inspiration for each generation,' he said.

DPM Shrestha said Nepal Police had been fulfilling the role assigned to it by the state to the best of its ability despite the availability of limited resources.

'Each member in Nepal Police is performing confidently to overcome each and every adversity faced by the citizens and the state,' DPM Shrestha said. DPM Shrestha asked Nepal Police to prepare itself to combat new methods of crime supported by new innovations and advanced technology and prevent potential offences.

Stating that impartial investigations would serve justice to the affected, leading to an end to impunity, he said, 'There is no room to doubt police investigation.

I am confident that Nepal Police never compromises under any circumstances with its commitment to fair investigation.'

On the occasion, DPM Shrestha remembered all those police employees who had attained martyrdom while serving the nation and wished for the speedy recovery of injured ones. 'The government is always with the families of martyred police during painful moments,' he said.
