Judiciary performing better, says CJ Shrestha

Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha has stated that the judiciary has now gained momentum in delivering justice. Inaugurating the newly-constructed Nuwakot District Court building on Thursday, the Chief Justice mentioned that emphasis has been placed on service delivery through the use of modern technology, making it relevant and contextual.
The Chief Justice shared that both the external and internal environments of the judiciary have become favorable in the three months since he assumed the role. He added, 'Ownership and commitment have been visible for judicial reforms.'
CJ Shrestha outlined his reform measures for the judiciary, including the finalization of more cases compared to the registration of new ones, efforts to provide verdicts for cases registered two years ago, and ensuring automation in the hearing of cases.
He revealed that preparations are underway to adopt an automation system for the hearing of cases in the High Courts. CJ Shrestha emphasized the commitment to developing a reliable justice system by ensuring good governance and providing access to all through prompt, quality, and effective justice delivery.
The Nuwakot District Court building, which suffered damage in the Gorkha Earthquake of 2015, was reconstructed with an investment of Rs 96.1 million from the National Reconstruction Authority.
