KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 15

Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha emphasized the importance of forging a collective commitment to increase public confidence in the judiciary. He made these remarks while inaugurating a new building at the High Court Patan on Sunday.

CJ Shrestha stressed that the justice delivery process should be prompt to boost public trust in the judicial system. He added, 'There should be easy access to the courts for justice seekers, in addition to providing necessary physical facilities in the courtrooms.' He expressed confidence that the new building would make court functions more accessible to justice seekers and consumers, ultimately increasing public confidence in the court.

Furthermore, he noted that continuous efforts were underway to overhaul the court system and resolve cases that have been pending for over two years. The CJ also mentioned progress in appointing Justices to vacant positions at courts of all three levels.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Supreme Court's Senior Justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Justices Sapana Malla and Dr. Aanand Mohan Bhattarai, High Court Patan's Acting Chief Justice Mahesh Sharma Poudel, and Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan, among others.

The newly inaugurated building, constructed at a cost of Rs 580 million, features 12 courtrooms and 23 rooms for Justices. The foundation stone for this building was laid by former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha in 2016."
