Nepal has abundant potential for green energy, says PM Dahal

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 13

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal stated that Nepal holds significant potential in green energy.

PM Dahal emphasized the necessity of effectively utilizing the opportunities presented by clean and green energy.

During the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the 'women entrepreneurs green industrial park' in Panchkhal municipality-7 of Kavrepalanchowk, the Prime Minister highlighted that clean and green energy would receive priority in Nepal's journey towards a new era of the green revolution.

'As Prime Minister, I intend to kickstart the green revolution by setting an example, traveling in a hydrogen-run vehicle. This symbolic gesture marks the beginning of our campaign to combat pollution in Nepal. We must capitalize on the vast potential of clean and green energy,' he added.

Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat pledged to allocate budgetary resources for the construction of the green park in Panchkhal in the upcoming fiscal year. He also mentioned the government's plans to expand park construction projects across all seven provinces.

Mahesh Kharel, the mayor of Panchkhal municipality, highlighted that the park's construction aims to promote women entrepreneurship and enhance the value of local production.

The initiative for constructing the park is led by the South Asian Women Development Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, and Panchakhal municipality. The park will encompass facilities such as a training center, warehouse, cold storage, as well as processes for packaging, drying, and grading agricultural products.

Pramila Acharya Rijal, Chairperson of the Forum, shared plans to establish a total of 50 micro, medium, and small enterprises within the park.
