Election beauty of democracy: Prez Paudel

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 22

The Election Commission (EC) has presented its annual report for the fiscal year 2079-80 BS (2022-23) to President Ramchandra Paudel.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya presented the report to the Head-of-the-State amidst a function at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas, on Friday.

During the event, the President remarked, 'The periodic election is a beauty of democracy, instrumental in strengthening the federal democratic republic, fostering national development, and ensuring stability through the promotion of citizens' freedoms and rights.' He expressed satisfaction with the EC's performance in fulfilling its constitutional and legal responsibilities and expressed hope that the government would earnestly address the issues highlighted in the report.

CEC Thapaliya noted that the previous fiscal year remained an election year that saw successful elections across all three tiers of government. He observed that the elections were conducted with economic efficiency, transparency, and systematic organization.

Additionally, election commissioners and senior officials from the EC were present at the occasion.'
