Two killed in Balkumari demonstration

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 29
Two individuals, who were injured in a clash with police personnel during a demonstration in Balkumari of Lalitpur today, have died.
Nepal Police spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Kuber Kadayat, confirmed the deaths of the two individuals, identified as 22-year-old Birendra Shah from Doti and 23-year-old Sujan Rawat from Dailekh. Both succumbed to their injuries during treatment, he added.
Rawat passed away while undergoing treatment at KIST Hospital, while Shah breathed his last at Patan Hospital. The demonstration occurred as youths claimed they were prevented from participating in the EPS examination.
Prior to this, protestors had set fire to the vehicle of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, leading to a clash between protestors and police personnel.
In response to the incident, the police fired blank shots and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
