Deep Jyoti Cup KATHMANDU: The G4 Sports Club claimed the fourth Gongabu Deep Jyoti Cup Men’s Volleyball Tournament after their opponent Nepali Army failed to report in final on Thursday. Armed Police Force Club defeated Darshan Transport 21-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-23 in the third-place playoff. Top three teams bagged Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Som Thapa of G4 was adjudged the best player of the tournament and earned Rs 5,000. Likewise, Chhabi Anjan of APF were declared the best spiker, his teammate Gyanendra Bista the best defender, while G4 teammate Madan Saud were named the best quick-spiker and best lifter. Donation for player KATHMANDU: Kidney patient and national wushu player Chitra Bahadur Lamichhane received Rs 75,000 donation here on Thursday. National Sports Council (NSC) member Min Krishna Shrestha handed over the sum collected by from wushu coaches, NSC employees and various organisations. NSC member Shrestha also committed to donate Rs 15,000 personally to support in the treatment of the player. Akhil Cup to resume KATHMANDU: Akhil Cup Inter-college Football Tournament resumes here the Dasharath Stadium on Friday. The tournament resumes with semi-final matches between Xavier International vs Patan Multiple College and Golden Gate College vs Nepal Commerce Campus. The third-place playoff and final is scheduled for Saturday at the same venue.
