KATHMANDU, JANUARY 18
The Meteorological Forecast Division (MFD) anticipates light snowfall in isolated areas of the high hilly and mountainous regions in Bagmati, Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces on Thursday. This weather pattern is expected to persist throughout the day and night in these provinces.
Today, the country is set to experience generally cloudy conditions in the hilly regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, with partly cloudy to mainly fair weather in the rest of the country. This trend is forecasted to continue into the night.
Similarly, light rain is likely in one or two places in the hilly regions of the country. In the last 24 hours, Taplejung recorded traces of rain as of 8:45 am today.
The current weather conditions are influenced by the Western Wind.
Kathmandu Valley residents experienced chilly temperatures of 4.8°C at 8:45 am today. Meanwhile, Jumla recorded a minimum temperature of -5.5°C, while Bhairahawa and Simara recorded 11.0°C at the same time.
The tarai region across the country is grappling with foggy conditions, expected to gradually clear by the afternoon. Simara experienced the densest fog, with visibility reduced to just 100 meters. MFD advises the public to exercise caution against the cold and potential disruptions to daily life, health, transportation, and air travel due to fog.
