KATHMANDU: Denmark will lend Nepal US$40 billion in development assistance this year, said its ambassador to Nepal, Finn Thilsted. At an interaction here programme that was held today, he said the aid will go to education, energy, human rights, governance and peace process. The Danish Development Minister will come to Nepal in April, he said, adding that discussions will be held on bilateral support and mutual interest during the visit. He underlined the need for international assistance to Nepal to take the peace process to a logical end and draft the new constitution. Expressing hope that the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the Special Committee on army integration will solve many problems, he said the recently formed High Level Political Mechanism through mutual consent will achieve success in the peace process. Ending impunity and upholding human rights should be the priority, he said, adding that those indicted in human rights violations during the conflict period should be brought before civilian courts.
