Daily turnover plunges to Rs 2.4b despite 14 points gain on NEPSE

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 5

Despite a 14.57 point gain in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday, settling at 2,076.27 points and reflecting a 0.70% increase, the daily turnover took a dive to Rs 2.438 billion. This marked a significant decrease from Sunday's intraday turnover of Rs 3.216 billion.

The sensitive index, which evaluates the performance of class 'A' stocks, rose by 1.59%, while the float index, indicating actively traded shares, saw a 0.35% increase.

Most sectors performed positively today, except for Hotels and Tourism, Manufacturing and Processing, Mutual Fund, and Non-Life Insurance, which experienced declines.

A total of 7,491,303 units of shares from 310 companies were traded in 56,775 transactions today. Among them, 148 companies saw an increase in share values, while 86 declined and 13 remained unchanged.

Notably, Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) and People Power Limited (PPL) experienced a 10% gain in their share values. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) maintained its lead in terms of turnover (Rs 185,905,014.10) and transactions (6,673), while Nyagdi Group Power Ltd (NGPL) led in terms of top volume with 447,667 units of shares traded.

Overall, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 3.263 trillion.
