NEPSE sees decline, all sectors record losses

KATHMANDU, APRIL 15

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a decline of 16.81 points or 0.83%, settling at 2,006.52 points by the closing bell, on Monday.

Not only did the benchmark index dip, but the sensitive index, reflecting Class 'A' stock performance, also fell by 0.67%. Similarly, the float index experienced a drop of 0.79% during today's trading session.

The market witnessed a predominantly negative trend, with all sectors experiencing losses. Leading the downturn was the Finance sector, which lost 1.64%, closely followed by the Manufacturing and Processing sector at 1.59%. Additionally, Others sector saw decline of 1.38%, while Hotels experienced a loss of 1.15%.

In terms of individual stock movements, 52 companies advanced, while 184 companies experienced declines. Eight companies remained unchanged, with Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (GLBSL) sustaining a 10% loss, similar to Sunday's performance.

This pessimistic market sentiment also impacted the daily turnover, which decreased to Rs 2.7 billion from Sunday's intraday turnover of Rs 3 billion. The exchange witnessed the trading of 7,223,773 units of shares from 314 companies in 50,524 transactions.

Today, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 3.181 trillion.
