KATHMANDU, MAY 14

The main opposition Nepali Congress has obstructed the House proceedings, reiterating its earlier demand in today's meeting of the House of Representatives. As a result, today's HoR meeting has been postponed.

The NC has insisted on the formation of a probe committee to investigate issues related to the involvement of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

During the joint sitting of both houses of the federal parliament today, President Ramchandra Paudel presented the government's annual policy and program for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.

In today's session, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was supposed to present President Paudel's address to the joint sitting and extend gratitude to the President.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire was expected to announce the receipt of bills from the Office of the President and the appointment of Ministers.

Additionally, the Speaker was to nominate members to preside over the meeting in accordance with Rule 10 of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079 BS.

The next HoR meeting is scheduled for 11:00 am on May 16.

Meanwhile, today's National Assembly meeting was adjourned without addressing the agenda due to protests from lawmakers of the main opposition party.

The session was intended to pass a motion of thanks to the President. The next National Assembly meeting is set for 1:15 pm on Thursday.
