KATHMANDU, MAY 10

The opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has obstructed today's meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR).

The meeting, part of this year's budget session, commenced one hour later than scheduled. The delay arose as the NC demanded the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate misappropriation issues within the cooperative sector.

At the outset of the meeting, Speaker of the HoR, Devraj Ghimire, read a letter from the Office of the President regarding the HoR budget session. In his opening remarks, Speaker Ghimire emphasized the House's responsibility to address current challenges and prioritize the people's agendas. He urged the government to address concerns raised within the House.

Furthermore, Speaker Ghimire extended a welcome to newly-elected HoR members Suhang Nembang and Hasina Khatun.

Nembang, representing CPN (UML), won in the recent by-election in Ilam, while Khatun was elected from the Janata Samajwadi Party through the proportional electoral system."
