Police seize 440 kilograms of marijuana, arrest three in Sunsari

KATHMANDU, MAY 15

Police arrested three individuals on charges of trafficking illegal drugs, seizing a total of 440 kilograms of marijuana in Sunsari on Tuesday night.

The arrested have been identified as Chandra Bahadur Pakrin (25) from Bhimphedi Municipality-14 in Makawanpur, Bal Bahadur Limbu from Letang Municipality-6 in Morang, and Arbind Pal (30) from Dewanganj Rural Municipality-4 in Sunsari.

A team deployed from Area Police Office in Sahebgunj had stopped the mini truck (Ko 1 Kha 7123) traveling from Rajgunj Sinbari to Sahebgunj at Mehata Tol in Dewangunj Rural Municipality-5. During a routine check, police discovered 13 sacks filled with illegal marijuana in the vehicle. Additionally, police confiscated Indian currency worth 150,000 rupees and 52,000 Nepali rupees from their possession.

Following the discovery of the contraband, police detained the truck driver, Chandra Bahadur, and the two others accompanying him for further interrogation.

Detailed investigation into the case is currently underway, police said.
