Government discloses property statement of ministers and PM

The property statements of Cabinet members, including the Prime Minister, were made public today.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, and Council of Ministers has published property details of 23 cabinet members, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

According to a decision made by the Council of Ministers on Thursday, the Prime Minister's and Ministers' property details were made public on Tuesday in accordance with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Act of 1991 and Articles 31 (1) and 50 (1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 2002, respectively.

Here are the details of some of them, including PM.

PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal

According to publicly available property records, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal owns a house on 14 Kattha of land in Ward 14 of Bharatpur Metropolis. This land is registered in the name of PM Dahal's late wife, Sita Dahal, and is inherited property.

PM Dahal owns a kattha of land in Ward No. 1 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, which he inherited and is in the name of his spouse Sita. PM also owns five tolas gold received as parental property.

He has 2.5 million rupees in his Everest Bank account, which he received as salary and allowances as a member of parliament. PM Dahal does not have any loans, vehicles, or agricultural or livestock properties.

DPM Raghubeer Mahaseth

Raghubir Mahaseth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure, owns 43 tola of gold and 1.5 kg of silver.

He owns two houses, one in Lalitpur Metropolis and the other in Janakpur Sub-metropolis, while his wife, Juli Kumari Mahato, owns a house built on three Kaththas of land in Janakpur. DPM Mahaseth owns a house on 2 ropani 13 ana land in Lalitpur metropolis.

Similarly, his spouse Juli Kumari owns 7 bighas and 3 Kattha of land in Bishwshwarnath Municipality, 4 Kattha in Kamalamai Municipality, 1 ropani and 7 ana in Lalitpur metropolis, and 3 kattha and 11 dhur in Janakpur sub-metropolis.

DPM Mahaseth has more than 20 million rupees in cash, seven gold rings, three gold chains, and two pairs of gold bangles.

Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane

DPM and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane inherited one ropani and one ana of land in Bhaktapur. He has 110 thousand rupees in his bank accounts.

Lamichhane's spouse owns 10 ropani of land in Kathmandu as a share of her parental property, 80 tola gold, 20 kg of silver, and 25% of the Gopi Krishna Central Complex, as well as a Rs. 15 million loan for a house. They also own an EV costing Rs. 4.2 million.

Labour minister Dol Prasad Aryal

Labour, Employment, and Social Security Minister Aryal has been discovered to own 150 tolas of gold, 10 tolas of diamonds, and a balance of 21.8 million rupees. He owns 100 tolas of silver in addition to 150 tolas of gold, 10 tolas of diamonds, and a balance of Rs 21.8 million. The property's source has been identified as the gold and diamond business. He and his wife Ambika KC own a house in Kathmandu worth Rs 30 million.

DPM and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha

Foreign Minister Shrestha does not own a home in Kathmandu. He currently resides in a government-owned building in Lalitpur. Prior to becoming Minister, he lived in a rented house. Shrestha has inherited lands totaling 31 ropanis (15 ana 1 paisa), 1 ropani (10 ana 1 paisa 1 dam), and 4 ropanis (7 ana 3 paisa 3 dam) in Siranchowk Rural Municipality-8, Gorkha. He has announced that these properties are being handed over to the CPN-MC, as promised in 1998.

In addition, Minister Shrestha has Rs. 122,918.64 in savings at Rastriya Banijya Bank. He has stated that he does not own any shares or loans. He uses a vehicle gifted by PM Dahal.

Education Minister Sumana Shrestha

Minister Shrestha has Rs. 80 million in the bank. This includes Rs 15,200,000 for her own account and Rs 55,784,119 for her husband's account.

She also bought a plot of land measuring 8-6-30 for Rs 995,000. The land is registered in joint name and was purchased using funds from her salary. Minister Shrestha owns 11 tolas of gold. She received ten tolas for her wedding and one tola following the death of her grandmother. She also owns 100 tolas silver, a diamond set, and earrings, all purchased during her wedding.
