2 killed, 3 injured in Rautahat car accident

RAUTAHAT, JULY 12

Two individuals lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries after the car they were traveling in skidded off the road in Gadhimai Municipality of Rautahat district on Friday morning. The car was carrying participants of a marriage procession (janti) from Rautahat towards Sarlahi.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 9:00 AM when a Scorpio car with Indian registration number HR 70 D 8382 lost control and veered into a canal.

The deceased have been identified as Kal Bahadur Shrestha (55) from Kathmandu and Sweta Pandey (7) from Sundarpur, Chakraghatta Rural Municipality-3, Sarlahi, confirmed the District Police Office, Rautahat.

The vehicle was carrying 12 passengers at the time of the accident. Five individuals escaped without injuries, while three others, whose identities are yet to be confirmed, were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car fled the scene following the incident.

Efforts are underway to locate the absconding driver, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alija Giri, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Rautahat.
