KATHMANDU, JULY 2

At least seven individuals were killed while eight others sustained injuries when a jeep plunged below the road at Parewas Chhahara of Rolpa district on Monday evening.

According to police, the incident occurred when a jeep (Lu 1 Ja 3252) en route to Talabang from Ghartigaon of Rolpa skidded off the road and fell nearly 400 meters below.

The deceased have been identified as Khadga Dangi (77), Amrita Gharti (30), Jun Maya Khadka (33), Ram Kali Pun (31), Karma Ghartimagar (50), Chup Lal Dangi (27), and a girl child, all hailing from Rolpa district.

Among the eight passengers injured in the accident, six are in critical condition and receiving treatment in Butwal-based hospitals. Jeep driver Dipak Thapamagar is also among the injured. Meanwhile, two injured have been discharged after treatment.

It has been reported that the passengers were returning home after shopping in the market when the jeep they were travelling in swerved to escape a landslip on the road.

There were 15 passengers, including the driver, in the jeep at the time of the incident.
