NEPSE rebounds by 32 points; Microfinance sector leads with 6.83%

KATHMANDU, JULY 25

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rebounded by 32 points or 1.26% on Thursday, following a 27-point drop on Wednesday, to settle at 2,568.11 points by the end of the trading day.

Along with the increase in the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which evaluates the class 'A' stocks, also rose by 1.56%, while the float index, which gauges the actively traded shares, rose by 1.43%.

Today's market was mostly positive, with sectors such as development banks, hydropower, investment, and others recording losses of less than 1%.

Meanwhile, the microfinance sector was the top gainer in today's market, recording a 6.83% gain. No other sector came close to this performance, with the second top gainer, the non-life insurance sector, recording only a 2.95% gain. Other sectors that gained over 1% were the banking sector with 1.36% and the finance sector with 1.22%.

In terms of individual stocks, 142 companies advanced in today's market while 97 declined, and three remained unchanged. Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ULBSL) recorded a 10% gain in its share value.

The daily turnover was recorded at Rs 14 billion from the exchange of 35,594,868 units of shares of 320 companies in 159,757 transactions. This intraday turnover was less than that of Wednesday, which recorded Rs 16 billion.

Today, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.074 trillion.
