KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 20

American runner Tyler Andrews has created history by making the fastest climb on Mt Manaslu on Thursday, said expedition organizer.

Dawa Steven Sherpa, Managing Director at Asian Trekking, said that Andrews reached the true summit point of Manaslu in just 9 hrs and 52 mins from the base camp. Andrews completed base camp-summit-base camp journey in 14 hrs and 52 mins.

According to Sherpa, Andrews left the base camp at 3:31 am and reached the summit at 1:23 pm while he safely descended to the base camp at 6:23 pm on Thursday. 'Initially, Andrews was just going up to Camp IV for acclimatization rotation and had no plans to attempt for the fastest known time record. When he got to camp IV in just six hours from the base camp, he was still feeling excellent up there and weather conditions were absolutely perfect. So, he decided to keep going to the summit,' Sherpa shared.

Andrews has smashed the FKT record set by Pemba Gelje Sherpa last year. Pemba Gelje scaled Mt Manaslu in 12 hours last year, smashing the earlier record of 13 hours by Francois Cazzanelli.
