NAWALPARASI, OCTOBER 1

One-way traffic has opened on the road section that had subsided at Daunne of West Nawalparasi.

Vehicular movement has been allowed on one-way since 9.00 am today after repairing the road, said Information Officer of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Resham Bohara.

He added that preparations are being made to open two-way traffic on this section of the road, continuing with the repair works.

The works on repairing and restoring the road had been started at 11.00pm on Monday after passengers were stranded following the road sinking at Daunne, said Gyanendra Phuyal, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.

Teams from the Road Division Office, the District Administration Office and the security agencies have started the road repair and maintenance works at the place.

The East-West highway has caved in the Daunne jungle at Khursani Khola of Bardaghat Municipality-4 due to relentless rains on September 27 and 28. The section of the highway sunk on Monday evening prompting the full closure of the highway at the place.
