KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 1
The Bardhaghat-Daunne road section along the East-West Highway will be closed overnight today.
The road will be closed from 10 PM until 5 AM on Wednesday, as per a notice issued by the District Administration Office, Nawalparasi.
The closure is scheduled to clear debris along the road and fully restore two-way traffic. The road at Khursane Khola in the Daunne jungle of Bardaghat Municipality-4 was damaged when a retaining wall collapsed due to incessant rainfall on Monday at 3:40 PM. In addition, an electricity high-tension tower was also damaged in the area, further complicating the situation.
Following the incident, the road reopened for one-way traffic today at 8:45 AM. However, authorities have now decided to close the road completely overnight to clear the remaining debris and ensure full restoration of traffic flow in both directions.
During the closure, vehicles will be prohibited from traveling between Bardaghat Bazaar and Daunne Bazaar, except for emergency vehicles.
