SARLAHI, DECEMBER 18
Teachers at Shree Aadharbhut School in Jaipur, Godaita Municipality-2 of Sarlahi, were locked inside the office on Wednesday by angry locals protesting against alleged irregularities in the school's management.
Locals accused the headmaster, Garbhu Mahato, of failing to form a School Management Committee (SMC) and misappropriating resources meant for students. The protest escalated when materials meant for students, brought by representatives of various organizations, were reportedly withheld by teachers instead of being distributed.
Unable to reach the headmaster despite repeated calls, the locals confined the teachers in the office and locked it from the outside.
The protesters alleged that funds allocated for scholarships, mid-day meals, and other programs were misused in coordination with former SMC members. Attempts to seek accountability had reportedly been ignored, prompting the protest.
Ward Chair Ajay Sah visited the school to mediate but stated that the absence of the headmaster had delayed a resolution. Efforts to address the grievances of the locals are ongoing.
