KATHMANDU, JANUARY 6

Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel has announced that the government is working to ensure free treatment for brain hemorrhage patients.

Speaking at an event marking the 63rd anniversary of Kanti Children's Hospital on Monday, Minister Paudel highlighted the ministry's recent initiatives, including the hospital's provision of free treatment for childhood cancer.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by limited physical infrastructure and a shortage of human resources at Kanti Children's Hospital, the minister pledged maximum support from the ministry. He commended the hospital for delivering quality services despite its constraints, noting that this has earned it significant public trust.

On the occasion, National Planning Commission member Prof. Dr. RP Bichchha suggested upgrading the hospital into a Children's Health Institute. Meanwhile, Shreeram Subedi, Chairman of the Hospital Development Committee, described the institution as a national treasure in pediatric medicine.

Kanti Children's Hospital, established in 2019 BS with an initial capacity of 50 beds, currently operates 372 beds.

It provided healthcare services to over 180,000 children in the last fiscal year, solidifying its role as the country's only central and referral children's hospital.
