Govt committed to upholding law and order, asserts Minister Lekhak

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 20

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has reaffirmed the government's resolve to uphold law and order across the country.

Speaking to media personnel at Biratnagar Airport on Monday, Minister Lekhak emphasized the government's commitment to taking decisive action against individuals involved in criminal activities.

He strongly condemned any acts of violence against professionals, stating that it is unacceptable under any circumstances to assault lawyers for presenting arguments or doctors for performing their duties, as professional freedom is a cornerstone of democracy. He assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the recent assault on an advocate.

Addressing the recent physical attack on former Koshi Province Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa in Jhapa, Minister Lekhak pledged that the perpetrators would be held accountable.

The minister further clarified that the government has introduced ordinances aimed at revitalizing the nation's economy, promoting foreign investment, ensuring good governance, enhancing transparency, and streamlining administrative and public services for greater efficiency.

On the issue of constitutional amendment, Minister Lekhak stated that discussions have commenced, and any amendments would be carried out through a consensus among political parties.
