KATHMANDU: The first Gyalpo Lhosar Snooker tournament will be held on February 14 in Kathmandu, according to the organiser.

Pasang Sherpa, Chairman at the Base Camp Snooker, said in a statement that the first Gyalpo Lhosar Snooker tournament will be held at the Base Camp Snooker in Sagarmatha Chowk, Aakashedhara, Kapan.

Only Sherpa participants could register for the tournament, the statement added. 'To celebrate the Gyalpo Lhosar and to promote traditional Sherpa culture, we have decided to organize the tournament,' Pasang said, adding that it would help unite the Sherpa community and promote sports culture.

According to the statement, snooker enthusiasts can register by calling at 9813449810/9768380090 till 10th February, 2025. 'The champion of the tournament will get first prize carrying a cash of Rs 1,10,000 along with trophy and certificate,' Pasang said, adding that first runner-up will get Rs 55,000, trophy and certificate.

The second runner-up of the tournament will get Rs 30,000 along with trophy and certificate while Rs 20,000 will be awarded for the highest break (60+), according to him.
