KATHMANDU, MARCH 1

On Saturday afternoon, police unearthed a woman's body buried inside her prayer house in Dhanusha.

Police discovered the body of Anjali Devi Yadav, 20, of Laxminiya Rural Municipality-5, Baniniya, in the house's prayer room.

According to DSP Barun Bahadur Singh of Dhanusha, Anjali's husband Hariram Yadav has been absconding. ' It has been suspected that he murdered his wife, buried her body, and fled with his 10-month-old daughter,' he told THT.

On Saturday morning, the police arrived at Anjali's locked house after receiving information from local residents.

Locals reported a foul odour coming from the house, leading police to surmise that Hariram had killed and buried his wife inside. After smelling a foul odour inside the house, the police opened the door and began their investigation.

'Eventually, we found the body in the prayer room,' DSP Singh told THT.

Police had begun digging in the prayer room, in the presence of local officials, with the possibility that something had been buried after it appeared suspicious.

DSP Singh said that police began digging at 11:15 am and found Anjali's decomposed body buried in the room at 1:00 pm.

Police suspect Hariram murdered Anjali eight days ago and buried her inside the prayer room.

'It is too early to make any conclusions about Anjali's murder because the body has decomposed,' said DSP Singh. 'Since we have already unearthed the body and sent it to the hospital for a post-mortem, it will be easier to determine how the murder occurred once the report arrives.'

Hariram's neighbours claim he had a fight with Anjali last Saturday.

On the same day, Hariram informed his neighbours that his wife Anjali had left home. Three days later, locals informed the police that Hariram had also fled with his ten-month-old daughter.

When Hariram fled with his daughter, he left the house locked. However, after Anjali's body-which was buried in the house's prayer room-spread a foul odour throughout the neighbourhood, locals suspected Hariram had murdered his wife and fled.

Police believe Hariram murdered his wife, buried her in the prayer room, and fled with his minor daughter.

Police have stated that they are searching for Hariram and his minor daughter.

'There have been some previous complaints against Hariram regarding drug abuse,' Singh told THT. 'We are looking for additional information.'
