KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 19

Four daughters of Rinzin Doma Sherpa and Late Dorjee Sherpa from Rolwaling Valley successfully climbed Mt Aconcagua this morning. Aconcagua (6,962m) is the highest mountain of South America and highest of 7 summits after Everest.

In a bid to complete all seven summits in seven continents, Chhiri Aangjum Sherpa, Jangmu Sherpa, Tshering Namgya Sherpa and Dawa Futi Sherpa stood atop Aconcagua as they found a fair weather window, said Mingma G, a record-holding climber from the Imagine Nepal Treks.

Nima Jangmu, Tshering Namgya and Dawa Futi climbed to the top of the world, Mt Everest, on 12th May 2021 at 7 am and began their 7 summit journey, according to Mingma G. They hold the records of the most sisters to climb Everest together. The trio scaled Elbrus in 2022-11-12 and Kilimanjaro in 2022-12-31 and with Aconcagua, they completed 4 of the 7 summits, he added.

"Chhiri Aangjum is the eldest sister and she joined the team from Aconcagua. She will climb Kilimanjaro and Elbrus in March-April and Everest in April-May to join the younger sisters to complete their seven summits bid," he informed.

All the 4 sisters will be climbing Carstensz Pyramid from March 8-14, Denali 2-23 June and Vinson Massif on 27-November to 8th December to complete all the 7 summits, according to Mingma G. "This will be the first time ever in the history that four daughters from a family climbing Mt Everest and also the 7 summits."

Their father Dorjee was one of the strongest guides at his young age but in 1983, while guiding Everest in Winter, he got frostbite and lost his eight fingers however he never gave up climbing and guiding on a smaller team.

"Dorjee always had a dream to climb Everest to the summit but his dream never fulfilled. So, the four daughters will climb the 7 highest mountains in 7 continents to pay the highest tribute to their father. Also their action inspires women to dream big."
