Ambulance hits pedestrians in Sarlahi: One dead, two injured

SARLAHI, MARCH 14

One person was killed, and two others were seriously injured after being hit by an ambulance on the Malangwa-Nawalpur road section in Sarlahi last night.

According to a press statement from the District Police Office, Sarlahi, the incident occurred at 9:40 pm on Thursday when an unidentified ambulance traveling from Gamhariya to Malangwa hit the pedestrians. The collision resulted in one fatality and two injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Jayprakash Jaiswal (55), a resident of Malangwa Municipality-3 in the district.

The accident also left Rakesh Gupta (20) from Sitamarhi, Bihar, India, and Jitu Rai (52) from Malangwa Municipality-4 with serious leg fractures. Both victims are receiving initial treatment at Provincial Hospital, Malangwa.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Saroj Rai, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jayprakash was pronounced dead at the hospital at midnight, while Jitu Rai was later referred to Janakpurdham for further treatment.

DSP Rai confirmed that the ambulance and its driver have been identified, but the ambulance's number has not been made public to prevent any interference in the investigation.
