KATHMANDU, JANUARY 7

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake, with its epicenter in Dinggye, Tibet Autonomous Region of China, has injured 13 people in Nepal, according to police reports. Two of the injured lost consciousness.

Nepal Police Central Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police Bishwa Adhikari, confirmed that the earthquake caused injuries across various districts, with two houses completely destroyed, one partially damaged, and 11 sustaining minor damage. He noted that further details were pending as police teams were deployed to gather more information.

SSP Adhikari specified that one individual was injured in Kathmandu, 11 in Bara, and one in Kavre. The Kathmandu injury occurred as a person fled during the quake, while 11 people in Bara fainted, and a person in Kavre was injured by falling stones.

The earthquake fully destroyed a house in Solukhumbu, partially damaged one in Taplejung, and caused minor damage to homes in Sindhupalchowk and Ramechhap.

In the aftermath, the government has appealed for public reports on earthquake-related damages.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, stated that no fatalities have been reported in Nepal so far.
