KATHMANDU, MARCH 30
Locals in Ason, Kathmandu, celebrated the annual Pahan Charhe chariot festival with great fanfare on Sunday. The three-day festival, observed by the Newar community, begins a day before Ghode Jatra and signifies welcoming guests, as reflected in its name in the Newari language.
As part of the celebration, worship is offered to eight goddesses at various Shakti Peethas (power centers), including Kankeshwori, Bhadrakali, and Mahankal. A grand feast is held in Ason, where chariots collide near the Annapurna Temple, symbolizing the reunion of sisters.
