KATHMANDU, MARCH 31
Muslims across the country are celebrating Eid al-Fitr with great enthusiasm today. The festival, which marks the end of Ramadan, falls on the first day of the tenth month of the Arabic calendar.
During the holy month of Ramadan, devotees observe a strict dawn-to-dusk fast, seek forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance, and strive for self-purification through restraint and good deeds.
As a significant occasion in the Muslim community, the festival is observed with special Namaz, prayers at mosques, and the exchange of blessings between elders and juniors.
The celebrations are highlighted by the consumption of Sevai, collective prayers, and the exchange of greetings and gifts among family and friends. The festival fosters a sense of unity and spiritual reflection, marking the culmination of a month-long period of devotion.
The government has declared a public holiday today in observance of the festival.
