KATHMANDU, JUNE 20
A bus carrying 38 passengers, including three infants, was swept away by a flash flood in the rain-swollen Binayikhola at Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-1, along the Narayanghat-Butwal section of the East-West Highway on Thursday night.
According to Police, the bus (Bhe 1 Kha 4085) was en route to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu when it was washed away while crossing a newly built diversion over the river.
'All passengers were rescued immediately using an excavator,' police added. However, the bus remains submerged as continuous rainfall has hampered recovery efforts. The value of goods lost in the incident is yet to be confirmed.
The highway remains completely obstructed due to a muddy road section in Daunne, following persistent overnight rain.
