Heavy rainfall likely in several provinces as monsoon intensifies

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast partly to generally cloudy weather across the country today, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning likely at some places in Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces, including the hilly regions, and at a few locations elsewhere.
There is also a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces. Light to moderate snowfall is likely at a few places in the high hilly and mountainous regions.
Tonight, the country will remain partly to generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms expected at many places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, and at some locations in other provinces. One or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces may experience heavy rainfall. Light to moderate snowfall is also likely in the high hilly and mountainous regions.
In Kathmandu Valley, partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected this afternoon with a 60% chance of light to moderate rain or thundershowers, according to DHM. The weather pattern is expected to persist into the night, with the chance of rainfall increasing to 70%.
Currently, the entire country is under the influence of the monsoon wind.
