KATHMANDU, JUNE 15

The Supreme Court has ordered the Gandaki Provincial Government to refrain from suspending its newly issued Ride-Sharing (Regulation and Management) Regulations 2082.

A division bench of Justices Til Prasad Shrestha and Mahesh Sharma Poudel issued the interim order on Tuesday, responding to a writ that challenged the province's June 3 decision to pause enforcement for one month.

The regulations, published in the Provincial Gazette on May 13, faced strong opposition from the Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, which launched a nationwide strike. Acting on a request from the federal Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the province had agreed to the temporary suspension.

Chief Attorney Chiranjivi Sharma said the court's order clears the way for immediate implementation of the ride-sharing rules in Gandaki Province while the case proceeds.
