KATHMANDU, JUNE 25
The Infrastructure Development Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) has concluded that the progress of the national pride project, the Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Project, is unsatisfactory.
In today's meeting, the Committee decided to conduct a comprehensive review of the project's relevant documents, citing concerns over the lack of tangible progress to date.
Committee Chairperson Deepak Bahadur Singh stated that the meeting resolved to hold further discussions with the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. 'The project's progress has reportedly reached only one percent. The meeting discussed reasons behind this dismal performance,' he said, adding, 'We have decided to seek additional clarification from the concerned minister and to request further documentation related to the project.'
The Committee also instructed the government to avoid delays in appointing project chiefs for national pride projects. It was revealed that the Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Project had remained without a project chief for nine months.
The project has been contracted to Raman Construction JV Petal Company.
