KATHMANDU, JUNE 16:
Nepal Police, stepping up its crackdown on drug trafficking, seized 82,900 Tramadol capsules and arrested two individuals during a late-night operation in Kuleshwar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14.
The Department of Drug Administration has banned the sale of Tramadol, a pain reliving drug, without doctor's prescription since August 31, 2018. According to DDA, Tramadol is being misused mainly by youths, allegedly mixing Tramadol with other drugs and use it as a narcotic.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the District Police Office, Kathmandu, intercepted an Indian-registered SANTRO car (registration number UP78CB9835) parked near the fruits wholesale market in Kuleshwar at around 9:00 PM on June 13. During a thorough search, the Tramadol capsules were found hidden inside the car's doors and in an empty oxygen cylinder placed in the trunk.
In addition to the 82,900 Tramadol capsules (packed in 8,290 files), police also confiscated Rs 65,000 in cash, two mobile phones, an oxygen cylinder, and the Indian-registered SANTRO car.
According to police, Raju Mijar has a criminal history related to narcotics, with recent cases filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau and police circles in Jagati and Thankot.
