Police have seized three illegal firearms along with over 24 kilograms of narcotics during a raid in Raksirang Rural Municipality-1 of Makwanpur district, arresting one individual in connection with the case.
A man has been arrested with illegal firearms and a large quantity of narcotics during a police raid in Raksirang Rural Municipality-1, Makwanpur district.
Acting on a special tip-off, a joint team from the Bagmati Province Police Office, Hetauda, and the District Police Office, Makwanpur, raided the residence of Raju Syangtang at around 7:00 PM on June 14.
During the search, police recovered one Italian-made 7.65 mm pistol (marked "Universal made in Italy 025") with a magazine, an additional empty magazine, and 13 rounds of ammunition hidden beneath a pillow in the suspect's bedroom.
Further search of the shed on the second floor revealed another homemade pistol, 12 rounds of 8 mm ammunition, 1.31 kg of a substance resembling opium, and 22.8 kg of marijuana, hidden inside a plastic bag wrapped in cloth and concealed among corn husks.
Raju Syangtang was taken into custody, and the Makwanpur District Court has granted a seven-day remand for further investigation under charges related to illegal possession of firearms and narcotics.
In a follow-up search about 500 meters from Syangtang's house, police also discovered another homemade pistol, five rounds of ammunition, and two packets containing a total of 1.48 kg of suspected opium. The items were found hidden beneath a mango tree in a field owned by Chandralal Moktan.
Police have confiscated all the recovered items and said that further investigation is ongoing.
