KATHMANDU, JUNE 26
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea has officially launched the HaMi (Happy Migration) mobile app, aimed at supporting Nepali migrant workers throughout their migration journey-before departure, during employment abroad, and after their return home.
The app, developed in collaboration with KOICA, provides user-friendly resources in both Nepali and English, offering guidance on skill development, financial planning, and mental health.
The app was launched during a special Migration Conference organized by KOICA in Lalitpur. Speaking at the event, Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing transparency and policy effectiveness through labor market formalization and digital tools. 'Safe, dignified, and regular labor migration is only possible through collective efforts with all stakeholders,' he noted.
Ambassador Park Tae Young highlighted the strong Korea–Nepal relationship and the vital role of Nepali migrant workers. He said the HaMi app would help ensure that migrant workers and returnees have access to accurate, reliable, and timely information.
Ambassador Park also underlined the importance of returnee workers in Nepal's development. He mentioned the recent publication of a book by the Korean Embassy titled 'Tapai Pani Malik Banna Saknuhuncha' (You Can Be the Boss), featuring 50 success stories of Nepali returnees from Korea who became entrepreneurs.
The conference was attended by government officials, diplomats, media representatives, returnee migrants, and other stakeholders. The event also featured a dedicated session on sustainable reintegration of returnee migrants, with shared experiences and best practices.
