Nepal preparing skilled workforce for tech-driven employment: Labour Minister Bhandari

Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, has stressed the need to develop a skilled workforce capable of utilizing technology to meet the demands of the evolving global job market.
Speaking at the signing ceremony of a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Local Development Training Institute, the Foreign Employment Board, and Helvetas Nepal, Minister Bhandari highlighted the importance of producing workers equipped with knowledge, skills, and technological competence.
He also announced plans to launch a Diploma in Labour Studies in collaboration with universities and noted that employment service centers at all local levels are disseminating integrated information on labor-related services.
Bhandari acknowledged the vital role of the Swiss government and Swiss Contact in expanding access to labor and migration services and shared that Nepal is finalizing its first-ever National Migration Policy, which is expected to be approved by the Cabinet soon.
On the occasion, Ministry Secretary Dr. Krishna Hari Pushkar said the MoU would enhance access to relevant and necessary training, ensuring better alignment between skills development and employment opportunities. He urged the three partner institutions to collaborate closely to elevate labor migration services.
