KATHMANDU, JUNE 29

The Butwal–Narayangadh road section has been completely blocked due to flooding in a river along the alternative route in the Dumkibas area of Nawalpur (Bardaghat Susta East).

Following the flood, vehicular movement has come to a complete halt on both the diversion route used by cargo vehicles and the alternative road for small and passenger vehicles at Binayi Khola, located in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality–1, according to Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East).

'Currently, traffic has been suspended along the diversion and the alternative route via Hongsi Gate and Jyamire, and vehicles have been parked in safe locations,' he said.

According to SP Dhakal, the water level in the Kharange rivulet in Binayi Triveni–3 has risen significantly due to ongoing rainfall, rendering the alternative route impassable.

'A situation has developed in the Daunne–Dumkibas section of the highway where no vehicles can pass,' he added.

Continuous rainfall has caused the temporary diversion constructed over the Binayi rivulet, under the East–West Highway, to be repeatedly washed away due to the rising water flow.
