KATHMANDU, JUNE 17

Landslides and floods triggered by the rainfall has disrupted traffic at six locations along major highways across the country, according to a highway update issued by Nepal Police.

As of 8:00 am today, the Kanti Lokpath in Chhapeli, Bagmati Rural Municipality–3, Lalitpur, has remained blocked since early morning due to a landslide.

The Ravi–Rake–Bhedetar road in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality–5, Dhankuta, which was also blocked due to a landslide, has been cleared for one-way traffic.

The Araniko Highway has been obstructed at three points in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok-Kodari (Ward 2), Larcha (Ward 3), and Koplang (Ward 2)-following multiple landslides.

In Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality–1, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), the East-West Highway has been blocked after floodwaters from the Binayi River swept away a diversion.

Similarly, a landslide at Barlaba, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality–6, Gulmi, has completely obstructed the Kaligandaki Corridor.

Meanwhile, in Sinja, Jumla, the Jumla–Mugu road, which had been closed following a landslide at Chulelgaun, Sinja Rural Municipality–2, has now been reopened one way.
