KATHMANDU, JULY 1

The weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the country today, according to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, including the hilly regions. A few areas in other parts of the country may also experience rainfall. There are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces. Light rain or snowfall is also possible in some high hilly and mountainous areas.

According to the MFD, it will be generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces as well as in the hilly regions. Other regions are expected to have partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces and in the hilly areas. Heavy rainfall is expected at one or two locations within the same provinces. Light rain or snowfall is also likely in parts of the high hilly and mountainous regions.

The Valley is expected to experience partly to generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thundershowers. The chance of rain is around 40 percent for both the afternoon and night.

The MFD has reported that monsoon winds are currently active across the country, with the monsoon's low-pressure trough shifting northward from its normal position, bringing it closer to western Nepal.
